William Nicholson's Shadowlands is based on a true story and has been adapted from his original BAFTA Award-winning TV Movie. The production became a West End hit, and scooped the Evening Standard Award for Best Play, followed by a Tony Award-winning transfer to Broadway. It was adapted into a major Hollywood movie in 1993, starring Debra Winger and Anthony Hopkins, and directed by Richard Attenborough, which subsequently won Outstanding British Film at the BAFTA Awards.
The long-overdue West End revival will play a strictly limited engagement at the Aldwych Theatre in London from 5 February and is is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh.
